Re-Punched Dates

I suggest taking the ANA Course on the Modern Minting Process and Errors and Varieties.

Definition: An RPD is a Re-Punched Date.

That means a die which has extra or different numerals showing "under" or beside the date on the coin

It is called re-punched because of early times where the die may have been made with only the first 2 digits of the date, and the last 2 digits were added with a hand punch. If the hand punch moved, or the worker used the wrong one, you got multiple images of date digits.

An RPD could be caused more recently by 2 differently dated hubs, intentionally or not.
